Minibars for a new generation

Hotels are finally doing something about the problem of notoriously overpriced minibars. Because most travelers will avoid minibar offerings out of fear that the $5 can of soda will appear on their expense account, only the truly desperate dive in, meaning much of the merchandise gets old and has to be thrown out. Some hoteliers have responded with a reasonable flat rate for minibar items, while others have expanded offerings, and some have banished the minibar altogether.
