Heinz expands global business with Russian joint venture

H.J. Heinz has acquired a majority interest in Petrosoyuz, the No. 2 ketchup maker in Russia. Russian competitor Baltimor Holding claims 50% market share in ketchup compared to the Heinz and Petrosoyuz brands combined at 27%, but Heinz's move positions it well with foodservice customers such as McDonald's.
