Virginia school to test anti-HIV contraceptive gel

Eastern Virginia Medical School received funding to complete testing of a contraceptive gel, produced by Canadian Polydex Pharmaceuticals, that may be able to prevent HIV infection. The $24 million project, funded in part by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, will involve trials in India and four African countries.
