Study: Autism rates in U.S. children about 5 per 1,000

As many as 5.5 out of every 1,000 school-age children in the U.S. has been diagnosed with autism, according to a new government study. Researchers found boys are nearly four times more likely than girls to be identified with the condition, and Hispanics had lower rates, although that may be due to health care access issues.
