2.4-mile rail service to connect to Miami International Airport

Officials broke ground over the weekend on a new Metrorail link to Miami International Airport. The 2.4-mile connector was funded by a half-penny sales tax approved by Miami-Dade voters in 2002. The tax was supposed to fund 88.9 miles of new rail lines, but almost 75% of the funds have already been spent on maintenance of existing lines and other work.
