Ad shops could take a hit from automotive bankruptcies

According to Chrysler's bankruptcy filing, Omnicom Group shop BBDO Detroit is the automaker's second-largest unsecured creditor, with $58.1 million in IOUs, mostly stemming from media buys made on Chrysler's behalf. If General Motors were to enter bankruptcy, it's estimated ad-holding companies Publicis Groupe and Interpublic Group of Cos. could be owed as much as $250 million.
