Georgia county pins economic hopes on airport improvements

Officials in Houston County, Ga., plan to pour millions of dollars into the local airport in an effort to boost economic development. Next will come a $1.7 million instrument landing system, funded mostly through an FAA grant, and two more new hangars are on the horizon. "We can become a regional business airport and the airport of choice for general aviation in this area," says Art MacDonald, chairman of the airport authority. "And that could be good for everyone in the county."
