Minneapolis teacher named Minnesota's best for 2009

Minneapolis middle-school teacher Amber Damm -- who parents say has the ability to identify children's special gifts and needs -- on Sunday was named Minnesota's 2009 teacher of the year. "She has a vision of reaching every kid, no matter what they bring -- whether they come into her classroom with strong skills as a learner, or whether they have lots of needs," said her principal, Steve DeLapp. "She has an ability to find out what's important to them, and move them along on that journey of education."
