Some automakers see gains from ramped-up ads

Despite the recession, Kia Motors, Mercedes-Benz and Volkswagen have seen gains in U.S. market share that track their increased ad spending. "When we invest in marketing, things happen," said Tim Ellis, U.S. marketing chief for Volkswagen.
