Basel Committee calculates costs of proposed bank rules:

Nout Wellink, head of the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision, said members of the panel are still calculating the costs of its proposed capital and liquidity rules, but he said the effects would be worth the risk. Economists had determined that the proposals would reduce global growth slightly, he said. "If that would be the price to get a really resilient banking system, that price is not too high," Wellink said.
