CMS switch to bundled pay for ESRD treatment raises quality issues

Medicare's switch from fee-for-service to bundled payments for end-stage renal disease begins next year and raises questions of quality and access, according to the Government Accountability Office. Its report said that it's not clear the extent to which CMS will monitor effects of the payment system on quality of and access to dialysis care for different groups of beneficiaries.
