DOE to upgrade Advanced Photon Source facility

Argonne National Laboratory officials said the Department of Energy likely will allot more than $300 million to upgrade its Advanced Photon Source center. The upgrade will address improvements needed to meet the demands for sustainable energy and health research, the officials also said. Work at the facility allows for breakthroughs in nanobiology, the study of atomic and molecular structures of materials and living organisms, and the development of nanomaterials.
