Health reforms prompt changes to rural-hospital grant program

The Small Rural Hospital Improvement Program has been modified to fit the requirements of the new health reform law. The program will continue to provide funding for prospective payment systems in hospitals but will no longer offer grants for activities related to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act. However, the program now provides funding for value-based purchasing, accountable care organization and payment bundling.
