Literacy coaches for teachers help students improve reading skills

Students have better reading skills when taught by educators who have received literacy coaching, the results of a study show. Researchers studying K-2 classrooms in 17 schools found that students made gains of up to 32% in reading over three years in schools where literacy coaches trained teachers in practices based on cognitive science. Teachers received the most coaching in smaller schools.
