Arizona's Gilbert Public Schools district leads the state in National Board Certified Teachers, and those who have earned the distinction mentor other teachers who are going through the process. District teachers say National Board Certification is a way to improve teaching skills through self-evaluation. "I wanted to show that I was an accomplished teacher, that I do go above and beyond," one NBCT said of her reason for applying.
