Natural gas firms express confidence in wastewater-treatment techniques

The issue of disposing hydraulic fracturing wastewater is critical for New York as the state considers whether to allow fracking operations. Natural gas industry officials, however, are downplaying environmental concerns, saying that advances in drilling operations are leading to technologies to recycle the fracking runoff. "As the development moves to New York, the infrastructure will be developed here," said John Holko, a spokesman for the Independent Oil and Gas Association of New York.
