Survey: Valuable data are ignored when it comes to cybersecurity

IT organizations are not making good use of log data that could help to identify network and system attackers and in regulatory compliance, according to a SANS survey. However, nearly all respondents acknowledged that attacker detection and tracking is a valuable effort. "The data suggests that respondents are having difficulty separating normal traffic from suspicious traffic," report author Jerry Shenk says.
