Unemployment fell to 8.1%, 115,000 jobs added in April

The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that unemployment fell to 8.1% in April from 8.2% a month earlier, and the economy added 115,000 jobs, which was less than most economists had expected. "This remains a weak economy, and the job counts in March and April -- which have come in at considerably below 200,000 per month -- may perhaps continue right through the summer," says Kathy Bostjancic, The Conference Board's director of macroeconomic analysis.
