Full-day vs. half-day kindergarten: Studies are mixed

While some say full-day kindergarten programs level the playing field and give teachers more time to prepare their students, advocates of half-day kindergarten say their approach is more economical and desirable, because not all children are ready for a full day of classes. Some studies during the past six years seem to indicate full-day kindergarten students achieve greater academic gains, while others find no clear evidence that one is superior to the other in improving achievement or social behavior.
