Kansas begins debate over science curriculum

The State Board of Education opens hearings today about whether to require the teaching of alternative theories to evolution. As the debate heats up, evolution advocates are mobilizing to warn the public about the dangers of Intelligent Design, a theory that contends life on earth may have been created by a supernatural force. ID backers say evolution is not a foolproof theory and that other ideas should get equal consideration.
