Trial results show drug protects against stroke damage

A drug developed by AstraZeneca and Renovis has been shown to protect the brain from some damage caused by strokes, although trial results were mixed. Cerovive was shown to reduce disability from stroke in a trial involving 1,700 people, and the companies are conducting a second Phase III trial.
