Nashville mayor champions diversity in business

Government contracts for "diversity business enterprises" have been a priority since Karl Dean became mayor of Nashville, Tenn., and created the Office of Minority and Women Business Assistance. Minority and women business owners have criticized the process for becoming certified to get government contracts because it takes so much time away from seeking work.
