Will Obama pick an out Supreme Court candidate?

Kathleen Sullivan, an out First Amendment expert and former dean of Stanford Law School, is being touted by The Victory Fund as a strong candidate to fill the open seat on the U.S. Supreme Court, while openly gay Pam Karlan, who is also on the Stanford Law faculty, is another name being mentioned for consideration. Attorney and longtime LGBT-rights advocate Dixon Osburn said he believes President Barack Obama would choose a gay nominee if the candidate were the most qualified. "I don't think he would shy away from that, but first and foremost he's going to pick someone he thinks has constitutional gravitas," Osburn said.
