BP eyes "top kill" technique to seal Gulf well

BP is looking to employ a "top kill" method to permanently seal a ruptured well in the Gulf of Mexico, CEO Tony Hayward said. The technique involves reconfiguring equipment above the wellhead so that heavy fluids can be pumped into the well, stopping the flow of oil. "It's the shortest-term option, for sure, for permanently sealing the well," he said.
