Expert advises biotech firms to look at device firms' strategy

Medical-device executives often adopt a clear-cut strategy when pitching their businesses to venture firms, a characteristic that should be imbibed by their biotech counterparts, said Bruce Peacock, a venture partner at SV Life Sciences. Because the "entrepreneurial therapeutics business is evolving to be like [the] entrepreneurial device business," biotech startups should focus on a couple of programs instead of concentrating on a portfolio of drug candidates, Peacock said.
