Nokia, Microsoft take on RIM with workplace software

The first fruits of Nokia and Microsoft's alliance, an enterprise program for smartphone users aimed at improving communications between colleagues, are aimed as a shot across Research in Motion's bow, the new partners said in releasing the product. Nokia's online Ovi store is selling Microsoft Office Communicator Mobile. "This evens out the competitive landscape between Windows Mobile and Nokia, and gives them both equal access to the Microsoft back-end," said Gartner analyst Leif-Olof Wallin.
