Geron gets $25 million CIRM loan for stem cell trial

The California Institute for Regenerative Medicine awarded $25 million to Geron to help fund a clinical trial of a human embryonic stem cell-based therapy for spinal cord injuries. The study is meant to test the treatment's safety and patient response. The CIRM also has awarded $37.7 million in grants to researchers involved in basic biology studies.
