Global demand for gas is picking up, experts say

The overabundance of natural gas worldwide is slowly fading as economies start to recover, speakers at the Offshore Technology Conference said. A boom in U.S. shale natural gas exploration combined with the global downturn significantly increased supplies and weakened prices starting in late 2008. The pace of gas demand is accelerating, said Rafael McDonald, an associate director with IHS-CERA.
