DOJ seeks to overturn federal ruling on emergency contraceptive

The U.S. Department of Justice has submitted a notice of appeal to overturn a court order that mandated the FDA to make Plan B One-Step emergency contraceptive available to women of all ages without a prescription. Women's rights groups argued that women should have access to the contraceptive to avoid unwanted pregnancy, especially among teens, but critics said easy access could encourage sexual activity.
