Northwest confirms order, options for Boeing 787

Northwest Airlines confirmed that it has ordered 18 Boeing 787 jetliners and taken options for an additional 50 jets. The agreement, worth $8.2 billion based on list prices, is a blow to European jetmaker Airbus, which had hoped Northwest would purchase its A350. Northwest will start taking delivery of the jets in August 2008.
