GA goes to war over a footnote

Politico, the national political Web site, reports on AOPA's General Aviation Serves America campaign, noting that the $1.5 million effort began with a footnote. That one-sentence footnote in a 134-page budget document might have gone unnoticed apart from the sharp eyes of industry groups like AOPA -- an oversight that could have cost aircraft owners an estimated $7 billion a year. AOPA President Craig Fuller knows it's a crucial issue for general aviation, but he recognizes the incongruity of it all. "I can't believe I'm unloading on a footnote," he tells Politico.
