Group advises against combining Plavix, heartburn drugs

Health care providers should not prescribe acid reflux drugs known as proton pump inhibitors to people who take the anti-clotting medicine Plavix, the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions warned. The group's statement follows a study showing a 50% increased risk of heart attack and stroke in patients who took Plavix and the heartburn treatments.
