Mount Athos art to be seen by women for the first time in 1,000 years

Works from the Greek Orthodox monastic enclave of Mount Athos are on view at the Petit Palais in Paris -- and liable to be seen by women for the first time in 1,000 years. Women, who are banned from the northern Greece peninsula, and other viewers will see many works from the Byzantine era that never before have left Mount Athos.
