South Dakota hospital systems adopt e-prescribing solutions

Two hospital groups in South Dakota have implemented electronic prescribing technology to bolster patient care and avert medication errors, officials said. Half of Sanford Health's physicians are using a digital health records system called docZ, generating about 40,000 prescriptions a month. Avera Health is pilot-testing its Doctor First platform and hopes to integrate it with the EMR system at its facilities, an official said.
