Cable units pump up Time Warner's profit picture

First-quarter revenue generated by Time Warner's cable networks such as HBO, TNT and TBS was up 9%, to $2.96 billion, and profit spiked 22%, to $1.14 billion, the company announced. Overall, Time Warner reported a 5% increase in revenue, to $6.3 billion, and adjusted operating income was 37% higher, at $1.4 billion.
