Why Google got a facelift

Google makes money, and plenty of it, by selling space next to its search results -- so why would the company want to redesign its hugely successful search results page? The answer, insiders say, is that not even Google can afford to rest on its laurels: The company may be rolling in cash, but to stay ahead of rivals like Bing and Yahoo it needs to keep on innovating and improving its product, they say.
