Moving this year's CTIA show back a few weeks will change the character of the conference, the group's officials say. With International CTIA Wireless 2012® ready to open Tuesday in New Orleans, CTIA Vice President Rob Mesirow said that "older, traditional handset suppliers are going to be replaced with companies that you may not have heard of." Among the hot topics cited by industry observers: LTE-Advanced, Wi-Fi offload, small-cell technology and mobile video. The carriers' need for more bandwidth to meet the rising demand for data services is also expected to generate much discussion.
