Lagging service sector pulls down South Korean labor productivity

South Korea's growth in labor productivity has recently slowed to about a third of the rate of the 1970s, with the service sector in particular failing to catch up with productivity in advanced economies, according to a report by the Bank of Korea's Economic Research Institute. In services, South Korea ranked second to last among 25 Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development countries.
