Last post-Katrina flood-control project to start soon in La.

Construction will soon begin on a $614.8 million project to build "permanent canal closures and pump stations at the mouths of the 17th Street, Orleans Avenue and London Avenue canals in New Orleans." The project is considered the final post-Katrina major contract in New Orleans. The structures will be designed to prevent storm surges from entering the canals.
