Condo associations must allow unit owners to attend meetings

An appeals court in Illinois has ruled that condo association boards must not discuss association business via e-mail or phone, and must hold open meetings to comply with the Illinois Condominium Property Act. Boards can hold closed meetings only when discussing litigation involving the association, reviewing late assessments or rule violations, or discussing hiring or firing employees.
