Penfolds releases 2010 Bin 170 in honor of 170th year

Penfolds will celebrate its 170th anniversary with the release of rare luxury wines, including seven 6-liter bottles of Penfolds Bin 170 Kalimna Shiraz 2010 priced at about $60,000 each. The wine is sourced from old vines from the estate's Kalimna Vineyard and has been aged for 16 months. Penfolds has not produced a Bin 170 wine since 1973 but the 2010 vintage "was too good to be blended away," said Penfolds' chief winemaker, Peter Gago. "We were going to release it last year, but then someone said we should wait for the anniversary."
