Porous paving popular to protect environment

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has touted porous paving as a best practice for stormwater management, which reduces runoff and protects the environment. However, disadvantages of using porous asphalt or pervious concrete include the lack of expertise by contractors, a risk of contaminating groundwater and the clogging that can can occur if porous pavement is not properly installed or maintained.
