Study: Dieting for obese, older women healthy for most

When older, overweight women reduce their calorie intake, no loss of physical function occurs, a study found. The analysis of 23 obese, postmenopausal women who dieted for five months and lost an average of 25 pounds found the women improved their aerobic fitness and the ability to stand, but their walking speed and strength did not change despite muscle loss.
