ASTA opposes antitrust immunity for SkyTeam carriers

ASTA has sent a 13-page objection to the Department of Transportation urging it to defer granting the six airlines in the SkyTeam alliance antitrust immunity. The concerns raised by ASTA include potential price fixing and an unfair negotiating advantage. The group also said it is not appropriate to give the airlines antitrust immunity while the Justice Department is analyzing the plan to merge Northwest and Delta.
