Freedonia sees 9% annual rise in monitored security

Despite an increase in fines for false alarms, homeowner demand for monitored security systems in the U.S. will grow 9.3% annually to $2.3 billion by 2012 and to more than $3 billion by 2017, predicts the Freedonia Group in a new research report. The study said new features would drive sales of security devices, a market that grossed $1.5 billion in 2007, the same figure as in 2002, the research firm said.
