Color-changing plastic may lead to self-healing polymers

05/7/2009 | ScienceMag.org

Researchers at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign are working with plastics that change color when under stress. Scientists hope to take the research further by developing polymer molecules that can set off a chemical reaction to repair the parts under stress, essentially healing themselves before they break.
