D.C. Beltway construction could contribute $2.7B to economy

The construction of high-occupancy toll lanes on a 14-mile stretch of the Capital Beltway around Washington could create almost 12,000 jobs and pump $2.7 billion into the economy, according to a recent analysis. Funded through a public-private partnership with the state of Virginia, the project will also replace aging bridges and overpasses.
