AICPA addresses PTIN requirements at IRS hearing

CPA Patricia Thompson spoke on behalf of the AICPA at an Internal Revenue Service hearing on the proposed regulations that would require all signing and nonsigning tax-return preparers to obtain and use a preparer tax identification number. She told the IRS that the PTIN plan and stricter ethics requirements would help protect taxpayers, but also raised several concerns about the plan.
