U.S. job market sees largest gain in 4 years

The nation's job market improved in April, as employers added 290,000 positions nationwide, according to the Labor Department. The increase was the largest in four years. The unemployment rate, which measures the number of people looking for work, rose to 9.9%, from 9.7% a month earlier, as people came back to the market to hunt for work. Manufacturing added the most jobs since 1998, and -- for the second consecutive month -- construction companies were hiring.
