Culturally responsive teaching has helped Minnesota speech-language pathologist Sarah Skahan connect with her elementary-school students through a deeper understanding of each child's culture. Skahan is one of the state's first recipients of a graduate certificate in culturally responsive teaching from a new program at St. Mary's University of Minnesota. "It's transformed my practice," Skahan said.
